ZOLLNER ENGINEERING + EAST QUAD
INDIANA TECH UNIVERSITY
FORT WAYNE, INDIANA
PROJECT TEAM:
Architect: Perkins+Will / Elevatus Architecture
Civil Engineer: Engineering Resources
After succesfully completing a master plan for Indiana Tech University, Anderson + Bohlander was retained to lead the conceptual design for Zollner Engineering Expansion site design and Phase 1 of the redesigned East Quad. The reconfiguration of East Quad was one of the central features of the master plan. Navigating over thirty feet of vertical grade change, the design incorporates a series of short retaining walls that provide seating, as well as allowing for ADA walkways throughout the core of the site. At the same time the resulting green spaces are set to a more usable grade for students and visitors and even offer the opportunity for events, such as graduation or student celebrations. The spaces were designed in coordination with Perkins + Will with an understanding that the new Zollner addition would feel completely connected to the new greens space through a continuous glass facade and uniterupted ground floor. Landscape improvements are set to begin in the Spring and Summer of 2023.
