FRANKE PARK RENAISSANCE

FORT WAYNE PARKS & RECREATION

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA

PROJECT TEAM:

Architect Lead:   Design Collaborative

Civil Engineer:  Engineering Resources

Environmental Engineer: Earthsource

Franke Park is centrally located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and is home to the beloved Fort Wayne Zoo, Franke Day Camp, and extensive BMX and mountain biking trails.  After completion of a new park master plan in 2019, the Fort Wayne Parks Department sought to implement the first phase of their Franke Park Renaissance project and selected the architectural team of Design Collaborative to oversee the completion of a new 400 person pavilion and Anderson+Bohlander as co-lead for the site improvements and landscape architecture.  Centrally located at the natural high point of the park, the new pavilion capitalizes on views across the park and opens up areas of the park previously inaccessible to the community.  A new park entrance and drive provides a new arrival experience for visitors to Franke Park that includes a new multi-use trail and dedicated bridge crossing over Spy Run Creek for increased access to the park and network of vehicular and pedestrian trails.
